There is a way to say YES and a way to say NO.  Similarly there is a way to give feedback and a way not to.  I am quoting from Daring Greatly by Bren\u00e9 Brown, who has presented the very essence of feedback.  If you are on a leadership board, you are a manager or just a peer, you have to know when you are ready to give feedback.<\/p>\n

I know I\u2019m ready to give feedback when:<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. I\u2019m ready to sit next to you rather than across from you<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. I\u2019m willing to put the problem in front of us<\/strong> rather than between us
    (or sliding it toward you).<\/li>\n
  3. I\u2019m ready to listen, ask questions, and accept<\/strong> that I may not fully
    understand the issue.<\/li>\n
  4. I want to acknowledge what you do well<\/strong> instead of picking apart
    your mistakes.<\/li>\n
  5. I recognize your strengths and how you can use them<\/strong> to address
    your challenges.<\/li>\n
  6. I can hold you accountable without shaming or blaming you<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. I\u2019m willing to own my part<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  8. I can genuinely thank you for your efforts<\/strong> rather than criticize you
    for your failings.<\/li>\n
  9. I can talk about how resolving these challenges<\/strong> will lead to your growth and opportunity.<\/li>\n
  10. I can model the vulnerability and openness<\/strong> that I expect to see from you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n
